GCT  Badges and Collectors Series Badges

On these pages of the site I decided to feature the Badges of the Glentoran Community Trust, the first Supporters Trust to be formed in Northern Ireland.

The Glentoran Community Trust (or GCT as it's better known) was formed from the "Rest in East" group which originally was formed to keep Glentoran F. C. in it's traditional heartland of East Belfast.

Bar one tin badge the GCT badges are top quality hard enamel badges and are usually produced to concide with projects which the GCT hope will help to reconnect the public of East Belfast (and further afield) with our famous and long established football club.

Sadly the scanning process does not do these badges justice and I can assure you as I own all of these badges that they are superb, most have sold out and are highly sought after by collectors and have already increased in value.

More information about the aims and projects of the GCT can be found here  -  www.gctni.com

In season 2011/12 I wrote a series of articles in the Glentoran Gazette  (the Glentoran programme)  entitled Behind The Badge which featured Supporters Clubs past and present and which featured also the badges these clubs had produced.

Being contacted by badge collectors from Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, USA, Canada and Austrailia I was able to get colour scans of most of the old Supporters Clubs badges and also was contacted by many collectors asking were they could buy these badges.

The old supporters club badges are very rare and hard to come by and when they do appear, usually on ebay they sell for a fortune, a lot seeming to end up in the hands of Russian collectors for some reason.

Seeing that there was a demand for these badges I spoke with the Commercial Director of the GCT (of which I'm also a member) and was asked  to make a Collectors Series set of badges which would have 15 badges of present day supporters clubs and 12 replicas of the badges of the old supporters club badges.

The first 2 badges Victoria GSC and Dundonald GSC went on sale in December 2012 and then over a 26 month period a total of 27 badges were produced.

Again these will be the best quality hard enamel badges made by what the GCT consider to the best badge maker in the UK at the minute.

More information can be had from the GCT email address above. Badges will appear here as they are produced.

(EDIT) At a meeting of GCT members on 25/11/21 the members sadly voted to abolish the Trust. 2006 - 2021
